Accident Injures Four at Cristal Global’s U.K. Facility3:28 PM MDT | March 15, 2010 | Alex Scott Four people have been injured following an explosion at the Stallingborough, U.K. manufacturing plant of titanium dioxide (TiO2) producer Cristal Global (Cristal; Yanbu, Saudi Arabia). A reactor tank ruptured releasing a cloud of toxic titanium tetrachloride into the local area. The four casualties were taken to hospital suffering from burns and toxic inhalation. Reports say at least 10 fire crews attended the scene of the incident and that they used a blanket of foam to contain the chemicals.
