ECHA opens public consultation on N-methylpyrrolidone

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA; Helsinki) has opened a public consultation on N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP). The substance is used mainly as a solvent, as a cleaning agent, and in the manufacture of various types of polymers. The proposal for restriction was submitted by the National Institute of Public Health (RIVM; Bilthoven, Netherlands). The proposal states that NMP may only be manufactured and used if it can be guaranteed that the exposure (as an eight-hour threshold weighted average, TWA) is below five milligrams per cubic meter, that the 15-minute peak...
