ECHA meets 5% compliance check target under Reach; 69% of evaluated dossiers 'noncompliant'

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA; Helsinki) says that it has met its target for examining dossiers for the first registration period under the European Union's Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals (Reach) regulation and that 69% of the evaluated dossiers were found to be noncompliant. The first registration period, which ended in November 2010, covered the most hazardous substances and substances manufactured in or imported into the European Union in quantities of more than 1,000 m.t./year.
