ECJ backs ECHA's application of Reach rules of confidentiality

In confirming Registration, Evaluation, and Authorisation of Chemicals (Reach) rules on confidentiality the European Court of Justice (ECJ; Luxemburg) has backed the European Chemicals Agency's (ECHA; Helsinki) decision to not to disclose production volumes of hazardous chemicals. The court issued its verdict in late September. The ECJ ruling stated that ECHA correctly applied the UN Arhus Convention on access to environmental information and REACH in issuing the names but not the tonnages.
