U.K. Consumers Awarded $31 Million for Exposure to Fungicide in Furniture

A judge at the High Court (London) has ruled that a group of around 2,000 U.K. residents should be awarded a total of up to £20 million ($31 million) for injuries caused by exposure to dimethyl fumarate (DMF). The fungicide was present in leather couches manufactured in China and sold in the U.K. The DMF was present in powder form in sachets placed within the couches to prevent the furniture from becoming moldy during storage in Asia.
