EPA Seeks Comment on Petition to Ban Atrazine

The U.S. EPA is considering a petition by an environmental group seeking a ban on atrazine, according to a notice the agency posted in the Federal Register. Public comments are due November 14. The group, Save the Frogs, says atrazine “turns male frogs into females at concentrations as low as 2.5 parts per billion.” It also “causes cancer in laboratory mammals and developmental problems in fish,” the petition says.
