China Steps Up Scrutiny of Pesticide Safety and Effectiveness

China is planning to revise its regulation on pesticides, in order to improve the safety of agricultural products, government officials say. The legislative affairs office of the State Council in China published the draft of the revised regulation late last month. The revision improves the current regulation which took effect in 1997, in certain areas such as quality control, marketing, and the use and administrative management of pesticides, the government says.
