Louisiana Residents Sue Over Dispersants Use8:35 AM MDT | July 2, 2010 | Nancy Seewald Louisiana residents have filed a class action lawsuit against BP and Nalco Holding alleging that the companies intentionally sprayed a dispersant into the Gulf of Mexico “with full knowledge of its dangerous toxicity.” The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. The dispersant, manufactured by Nalco and marketed as Corexit, has been the focus of scrutiny by EPA and environmental groups since BP began using it to break apart oil from the Deepwater Horizon rig blowout.
