Louisiana Groups Ask EPA to Revoke State Authority on Clean Air

Several Louisiana environmental groups have filed a petition with EPA asking that the federal government revoke state environmental officials’ authority to administer clean air laws.  The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s (LDEQ; Baton Rouge) response to accidents involving several chemical companies, as well as its response rate to citizen complaints about air pollution, endangers local residents, the petition says.
