EPA Ozone NAAQS Rule Delayed as Industry Opposition Mounts12:37 PM MDT | August 1, 2011 | Kara Sissell U.S. EPA has missed its July 29 target date for releasing a final rule revising the National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) for ozone. EPA did not specify when a rule would be released but says it anticipates “finalizing this standard shortly.” A tighter standard would significantly alter air quality permit requirements for manufacturers throughout the U.S., industry representatives say. EPA in 2010 proposed tightening the standard, and has said the current standard is unlikely to withstand a legal challenge by states and environmental groups....
