China Imposes Antidumping Duties on Caprolactam from EU, U.S.

The Ministry of Commerce (Mofcom; Beijing) says that China will impose antidumping duties on imports of caprolactam from the U.S. and European Union (EU), for five years starting October 22, 2011. An antidumping investigation was launched in April 2010 following complaints from two undisclosed subsidiaries of Sinopec. Mofcom, in its final ruling announced last week, says that dumping exists in caprolactam imports from the U.S. and EU, and has caused substantial damage to the Chinese caprolactam industry.
