Chemtura to Pay $26 Million to Settle Liabilities at 17 Sites10:30 AM MDT | August 30, 2010 | Vincent Valk Chemtura, the U.S. EPA, and bankruptcy court attorneys have reached a settlement under which Chemtura will pay $26 million in environmental liabilities at 17 sites. Most of the money will go towards funding clean-up activities at those sites, which include 12 Superfund sites, EPA says. The sites are mostly located in the eastern United States. Some $8 million of the funds will go towards clean-up and restoration at the Diamond Alkali Superfund site, near the Lower Passaic River in New Jersey.
