Brazilian Court Orders BASF, Shell to Pay $626 million to Workers at Former Agchem Plant

A Brazilian judge has fined BASF and Royal Dutch Shell R$1.1 billion ($626 million) for medical costs to workers at a defunct agricultural chemicals plant at Paulinia. Shell and BASF plan separately to appeal the fine, according to European media reports. About 2,000 employees or relatives are expected to be eligible for the compensation.
