U.S. Court Reverses Order to Destroy GM Beet Seedlings

A federal appeals court has overturned a December 2010 decision that ordered genetically modified (GM) sugar beet seedlings be destroyed because they had been improperly authorized by the USDA. However, the seedlings’ destruction had been put on hold pending appeal. The court case is related to a judge's ruling last August that revoked the USDA’s approval of GM sugar beets—developed by Monsanto to resist it’s Roundup weed killer—until it completes an adequate environmental impact assessment.
