High Court Takes Up Monsanto’s Appeal of USDA’s Alfalfa Decision

The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to rule on Monsanto’s lawsuit challenging the U.S. government’s injunction against planting of genetically modified (GM) alfalfa. The lawsuit challenged a legal decision that required that the U.S. Agriculture Department (USDA) rescind approval of the firm’s GM alfalfa until regulators complete a more thorough environmental impact analysis. That analysis is due out later this month and the Supreme Court’s ruling is expected in June, meaning the ruling would have little practical impact on the alfalfa business. However...
