EU to approve DuPont GM corn

The European Commission is set to approve cultivation of DuPont's 1507, a genetically modified (GM) maize, in the European Union after 28 EU member-state representatives were unable to reach a qualified majority to ban the seed by a court-mandated deadline. According to reports, 19 ministers voted yesterday against approving the seed. Germany abstained from the vote, citing differing opinions within its own government.
