California rejects proposal to label GM foods

Voters in California have rejected Proposition 37, a ballot measure that aimed to require food manufacturers to label all foods containing more than 0.5% genetically modified (GM) ingredients. About 54% voted to oppose the labeling requirement, a sharp rise from September, when less that 40% opposed labeling.
