U.S. Officials On Track to Meet State GHG Permit Requirements

Despite some high-profile state-level opposition to U.S. EPA’s greenhouse gas (GHG) regulations, the vast majority of states say they expect to be able to finalize GHG-related permitting programs by the January 2, 2011 deadline, says Bill Becker, executive director/National Association of Clean Air Agencies (NACAA). NACAA analyzed letters sent to EPA by states and territories outlining compliance efforts and potential problems, and found that nearly 80% of states will be prepared to operate GHG permitting programs in early 2011, Becker says.
