Italy and France Urge EU to Adopt Carbon Import Tariffs

France’s president Nicolas Sarkozy, and Italy’s prime minister Silvio Berlusconi jointly have called upon the European Commission to assess the feasibility of introducing a system for taxing products imported into the European Union (EU) based on their use of CO2.
