EU: GHG Emission Cuts Are Ahead of Schedule

The European Union (EU) says it is “ahead of schedule” with its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2012. The European Commission, in its annual emissions report, says that the 25 EU member states that have set emission-reduction targets under the Kyoto Protocol will meet their commitments. “The facts show that the world can count on the European Union,” says Connie Hedegaard, European commissioner for climate action. “What we pledge we also deliver.
