EU Deepens CO2 Emissions Cuts

The European Union (EU) says it is “ahead of schedule” with its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2012.   The European Commission, in its annual report, says that the 25 EU member states with reduction targets under the Kyoto Protocol will meet their commitments. “The facts show that the world can count on the European Union,” says Connie Hedegaard, European commissioner for climate action. “What we pledge we also deliver.
