BASF: Pilot Project Achieves Major Carbon Capture Breakthrough

BASF said recently that pilot tests show is has made a major breakthrough in a carbon capture technology that it is developing with Linde and power company RWE. The new technology involves separating carbon dioxide from flue gas in a coal-fired pilot power plant. The process, which uses solvents, requires 20% less energy than standard carbon capture processes, BASF says.
