European Commission asks Germany to fully implement EU emissions trading system

The European Commission says that it has requested Germany to fully transpose the requirements of the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) into national law. EU ETS is a trading scheme for greenhouse gas (GHG) emission allowances. The system is a cornerstone of the European Union's policy to combat climate change and the region's key tool for reducing industrial GHG emissions cost-effectively, says the commission.
