European Partners Form Biomass Refining Alliance

A consortium of 28 companies and research institutes has begun a four-year project to develop an efficient biorefinery system for converting biomass into final chemical products. Named EuroBioRef, the project aims to increase the “economic efficiency” of a current biorefinery system by 30% while reducing energy consumption by 30%. The program is being funded by the European commission under its 7th framework program.
