European Officials Launch Bio-Waste Strategy

The European Commission has launched a plan to improve European Union (EU) management of bio-waste, and tap into its potential environmental and economic benefits. Biodegradable garden, kitchen, and food waste accounts for about 88 million m.t./year of municipal waste in the EU and has “considerable promise as a renewable source of energy and recycled materials,” the commission says.
