European Parliament approves proposal on biofuels and indirect land-use change

The European Parliament today accepted a proposal on a directive relating to the biofuels and indirect land-use change (ILUC). The compromise text was proposed in March by the European Council, the institution of the heads of state or government of the member states of the European Union. The main objective of the draft directive is to initiate a transition from conventional biofuels to so-called advanced or second-generation biofuels.
