The UK chemical industry has welcomed the UK government's decision, announced today, to freeze the country's carbon price floor—a carbon tax—at 2015 levels for the rest of this decade. The United Kingdom, on 1 April 2013, became the first country to introduce a carbon price floor. The tax is designed to penalize polluters and encourage investment in low-carbon energy.
