U.S. Finalizes Emission Limits for PVC Units

EPA has released its final air toxics emission limits for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) production units, replacing a 2002 standard that a federal court found inadequate. The technology-based standard applies to air toxic emissions from manufacture of polyvinyl chloride and copolymers production, but not units that produce vinyl chloride monomer, EPA says. The Clean Air Act requires EPA to issue Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) standards for industrial sectors that emit air toxics.
