EnviroTech :: Regulatory U.S. EPA Proposes Significant New Use Rules for 17 Substances10:00 AM MST | December 30, 2011 | Kara Sissell The U.S. EPA has proposed significant new use rules (SNURs) for 17 chemical substances, the result of a legal settlement after EPA was sued for not complying with portions of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). SNURs apply to uses of substances that are not ongoing and the substances had been listed in pre-manufacture notices to EPA. The proposals are open to public comment through January. “Persons who intend to manufacture, import or process any of the 17 substances for an activity that is designated as a significant new use by the proposed rules...
