Senate Rejects Bill on GM Labeling2:36 PM MDT | July 2, 2012 | Kara Sissell The U.S. Senate has voted 73-26 to reject a bill proposed by Senator Bernie Sanders (I., VT) that would have given states clear authority to require labeling of genetically modified (GM) foods. “Virtually every major food corporation in the country” opposed the bill, Sanders says. “The measure also would have required the Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to report to Congress within two years on the percentage of food and beverages in the U.S. that contain genetically engineered ingredients,” he says...
