Reports: France court overturns ban on MON810 GM corn

France's Conseil d'Etat has overturned a March 2012 government ban on cultivation of Monsanto's MON810 genetically modified (GM) corn, saying such a ban could only be imposed if human health or the environment were at risk, according to Reuters reports. The seed is just one of two GM crops approved by the European Union. However, EU law allows member states to ban cultivation of crops approved at the EU level. Italy banned cultivation of MON810 last month. Monsanto announced on 19 July that it would no longer pursue regulatory approval to cultivate biotech...
