Heinz, Nike, and Procter & Gamble have formed a consortium to promote research for developing polyethylene terephthalate (PET) that is 100% derived from renewable raw materials, a move that executives say will extend demand for biobased PET from resins into the polyester fibers market. Coca-Cola’s PlantBottle packaging program sets the goal for all of the company’s PET containers to be derived about 30% from renewables by 2020.
