Poland taken to court by European Commission for failure to comply with GMO monitoring legislation

The European Commission has decided to bring Poland before the European Court of Justice (Luxembourg) for non-compliance with EU rules on monitoring of genetically modified organism (GMO) cultivation, the commission announced. EU law requires that competent national authorities within EU member states are notified of GMO cultivation, and recorded in a register available to the public. Poland has so far failed to include these requirements in its national legislation, despite repeated calls by the commission to do so, the commission says. GMOs may be grown...
