Parliament Votes to Tighten EU Pesticide Regulations

The European Parliament has approved European Commission proposals to tighten legislation covering the authorization and use of pesticides in the European Union (EU) (CW, Sept. 26, p. 43). The EU will draw up a mandatory list of authorized pesticide active ingredients, and EU national governments will use the list as a basis for authorizing new plant protection products, under the proposals.
