Paintmakers Win Appeal of Rhode Island Verdict

The Rhode Island Supreme Court today overturned a landmark public nuisance verdict against former manufacturers of lead-based paint. The high court’s decision means the defendants—Millennium Holdings, now a subsidiary of LyondellBasell, NL Industries, and Sherwin Williams—will not be required to spend billions of dollars to remediate lead paint from homes and buildings in the state.
