Monsanto Challenges DuPont’s Use of Trait

Monsanto and DuPont’s Pioneer Hi-Bred subsidiary are in dispute resolution proceedings related to DuPont’s intended use of Monsanto’s first-generation Roundup Ready technology in its soybeans, according to a recent Monsanto SEC filing. DuPont’s Roundup Ready license permits it to use the trait in corn only, Monsanto says. However, DuPont had announced plans to stack its own glyphosate and acetolactate synthase-tolerant trait, sold under the brand name Optimum GAT, with Monsanto’s Roundup Ready resistant trait in soybeans.
