Mitsubishi Incurs Penalty for Fatal Accident at Ethylene Unit

The Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI; Tokyo) says that an administrative penalty has been imposed on Mitsubishi Chemical following an examination of reports submitted to METI’s Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA; Tokyo) on the causes of a fatal accident at Mitsubishi’s No. 2 ethylene plant at Kashima, Japan last December.
