EnviroTech :: Regulatory Members of Parliament Oppose EU Plans to Increase Biofuel Use11:21 AM MDT | July 14, 2008 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff The European Parliament’s environment committee has voted to scale down the European Commission’s previously announced plans to make biofuels account for 10% of transport fuel consumed in the European Union (EU) by 2020 (CW, Feb. 7, 2007, p. 7). The committee proposes instead that “renewable resources” including biofuels account for 4% of transport fuel consumed in the EU by 2015 and says that a thorough review should take place before further increasing renewables’ share of transport fuel.
