Jury Awards Monsanto $1 Billion in Seed Patent Dispute1:10 PM MDT | August 13, 2012 | Rebecca Coons A federal jury has awarded Monsanto $1 billion in damages in a patent dispute with DuPont over the "stacking" of Monsanto's Roundup Ready (RR) herbicide-tolerance trait in DuPont's Optimum GAT (OGAT) seeds. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, is the latest development in a long-running battle between Monsanto and DuPont related to the stacking of RR traits with other glyphosate-tolerant traits.
