The judge upheld a request by food safety activists that the judge halt the planting of GM alfalfa until the merits of their lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s approval can be decided. The Center for Food Safety (CFS; Washington) filed a lawsuit against USDA, saying the government did not conduct an adequate environmental safety review of the seeds, which are genetically modified to resist...
