IHS: Mounting environmental, regulatory pressures driving global solvents industry to greener alternatives

Increasing environmental and regulatory pressures and concerns over toxicity to humans continue to drive growing demand for greener solvents in developed countries, while demand for traditional solvents outside of China continues to decline, according to a new IHS Chemical global market research report.  According to the report, solvent consumption reached more than 28 million m.t. in 2012, with China accounting for more than 9 million m.t. and North American and Europe consuming 5 million m.t. and nearly 6 million m.t., respectively.    Nearly...
