EnviroTech :: Regulatory FDA Rejects Petition to Restrict BPA in Food Packaging (Update)1:17 PM MDT | April 3, 2012 | Kara Sissell The U.S. FDA has rejected a petition filed by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC: Washington) requesting restrictions on the use of bisphenol A (BPA) in food packaging. NRDC petitioned FDA in 2008, asking it to ban BPA in food packaging, food containers and any material likely to come in contact with food. FDA had 180 days to respond and NRDC filed suit in 2010 to compel an answer from FDA. FDA says the information provided in the citizen petition was not sufficient to persuade FDA to initiate a rulemaking, and "the most appropriate course of action...
