European Antitrust Raids Target Major Pharmaceutical Companies

Officials from the European Commission raided offices of several major pharmaceutical companies on January 16 as part of an antitrust investigation into the European Union (EU) pharma sector. “The inquiry is a response to indications that competition in the pharmaceutical markets in Europe may not be working well,” the commission says. “If innovative products are not being produced and cheaper generic alternatives to existing products are in some cases being delayed, then we need to find out why, and—if necessary—take action,”...
