Europe revokes Invista PET barrier resin patent following dispute with M&G

The European Patent Office's (EPO; Munich) appeals board revoked on 8 July Invista's patent related to polythethylene terephthalate (PET) barrier resin for bottles, according to M&G Chemicals, part of the Mossi Ghisolfi Group (Tortona, Italy). As a result, all national parts of the Invista patent lose their effect in any of the countries regulated by EPO, M&G says.
