Europe introduces regulation to restrict fluorinated greenhouse gases

The European Council, through the permanent representatives committee, has agreed with the European parliament on a draft regulation on fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases), to apply from 1 January 2015. The regulation is aimed at protecting the environment by reducing F-gas emissions, but will also create business opportunities for EU companies to develop alternative technology., the council says. The most common F-gases are hydrofluorocarbons (HFC). The regulation introduces a phase-down mechanism involving a gradually declining cap on the total replacement...
