EU to Integrate UN Classification Laws

The European Commission has announced final proposals to align the European Union (EU) system of classifying chemical substances and mixtures to the United Nations (UN) Globally Harmonised System (GHS) (CW, Aug. 30, 2006, p. 7). GHS will be integrated into new EU legislation, replacing current laws on the classification, labelling, and packaging of chemical substances and mixtures.
