EPA Proposes Annual Fine Particles Standard of 12-13 Mg/Cu Meter1:21 PM MDT | June 18, 2012 | Kara Sissell EPA says its proposed rule for particle pollution, or soot, would revise the annual standard for fine particles (PM-2.5) from 15 micrograms per cubic meter (mg/cu meter) to 12 or 13 micrograms mg/cu meter. EPA’s science advisory experts had recommended an annual standard for fine particulates of 11-13 mg/cu meter. The daily standard for PM-2.5 and for coarser particles known as PM-10 will remain unchanged, says Gina McCarthy, EPA assistant administrator/air and radiation.
