EPA Issues Final Boiler MACT Rule, Plans ‘Reconsideration’

EPA has issued a court-ordered final rule for reducing air toxics emissions from industrial boilers. However, because the final rule differs significantly from the agency’s proposed rule, EPA says it expects an additional public comment period is necessary. EPA says it will reconsider the final standards under a Clean Air Act process that allows the agency to seek additional public review and comment to ensure full transparency.
