DuPont Sues Monsanto Over Seed Production Rights (Update)

Seed Wars: DuPont and Monsanto add seed production technology patents to legal fray. DuPont has filed suit against Monsanto, alleging Monsanto infringed on DuPont’s seed production technique that “increases seed corn vigor to improve germination under stress.” The patent specifically covers defoliation at a particular stage in development—after pollination but before harvest.
