Cambrex Faces Fine for 2007 Fire in Iowa

Cambrex is challenging an Iowa Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH; Iowa City) citation for four alleged health and safety violations related to an explosion last year at its Charles City, IA complex. Cambrex faces a fine of $15,000 if found guilty of the violations and a possible hearing on the case. The citation is related to an October 2007 fire and explosion in Cambrex’s pharmaceutical drying room at Charles City. The incident resulted in five employees being treated for smoke inhalation and a sixth with burns covering 70%-80% of his body. IOSH cited...
